Should i get a PS3 steering wheel controller?

Im thinking about getting a steering wheel controller for my ps3, i've seen one which is preety cheap, but is separate and isn't with a seat or anything. So do you just put it on your lap or can it clip onto something? and does it really add to the experience?

Personally I've used Steering Wheels for games before. They're really not all that great in my experience. You're better on with the controller, the Steering Wheel can be too loose and you can crash into the wall or something.
